Okay, it’s official: Blake Snyder– that being moi — WILL be appearing at the Screenwriting Expo in Los Angeles this November. Instead of giving three talks, as I did last year, I will be doing just one “Supercharged” one — on Friday morning, November 14, at 11:00 a.m.
My topic will be how to “Supercharge!” every aspect of your screenwriting. How do you wring every last drop of creativity from your logline? How do you deliver on the “promise of the premise” of your script — and career! I will be trying out more new material from my work in progress, the third — and best — Cat! yet. I also hope to get into the “The Secret” essential for both good storytelling and career management, and inspire those in attendance to make this the best, and most creative, period of your life!
And Yes! I will be giving a talk this Sunday afternoon at 4 p.m. at Raleigh Studios in Hollywood for Robin Rowe and Gabrielle Pantera’s ScreenPlayLab. If you are not a member and would like to attend, please check out www.screenplaylab.com.
We will also be announcing soon the fall schedule of workshops and other appearances. I’m looking forward to two Beats Weekends, next week in Seattle and here in L.A. in October.
P.S. And here’s something for you to say Yes! to. I am looking for scripts in the vein of The Notebook or a feature length screenplay with a leading role for an actress in her 60s. Please contact me through my email address with a logline if you have something that meets this requirement.
Thanks! See you soon!
Blake Snyder

Blake
Finally got STC to my writing partner, and I’m encouraging him to take notes while reading. I really believe your method offers a shortcut to figuring out your script, and I will continue to pimp your brand on any writer I know.
P.S Come to Ontario soon!!
Sunday looks interesting! So I signed up! The workshopping part will be good exercise too!
They need to give you a really big room at the Expo this year. Haven’t they read Save the Cat!?!
Looking forward to seeing you at the Expo again this year. Tell us more about the “Secret.”
You are due back in CHICAGO!
Hey Blake! Hi from the Cat!Alonians! Your Yes!-inspired blogs always inspire me to get inspiring inspiration…
I’m writing here to let you know (and everybody who reads this) that I read and enjoyed Will Akers’ book, “Your Screenplay Sucks!”. And I found it soooo good!
As you remember, I’ve worked for years as a reader (and luckily still do) and from my POV I can assure that any script meeting Will’s 100 point checklist will get past the reader. At least I’d certainly shove the script into my boss’ desk! We readers want so badly to find your “hidden gems”… A true classic, really!
I also hope your new Cat! hits the stores soon! And I’ll keep you updated on my advances with my two hopefully-near-to-sell scripts. Yes! Let’s make it happen!!
Warm Regards,
Salva.
Hi Blake.
That sounds great… If I were able to be in the right continent. :(
Would it be possible to get podcasts from any of your seminars/talks? I would love to hear some. :D – Let me know if you by any chance would find yourself located in Oslo, Norway.
Oh… One more thing. Is there any date pinned on the third book? Can we expect it in 2008?
Thanks in advance! :)
Thought you’d want to know?!?! Info on Nicholas Sparks, aka “The Notebook”
Cyrus Inspires Author To Write Adult Film Role

Disney star Miley Cyrus has signed on to star in a dramatic new film about family and romance in a bid to heighten her appeal among adult audiences.
The 15-year-old Hannah Montana actress will star in a forthcoming film written especially for her by Nicholas Sparks – who penned The Notebook, inspiring the 2004 Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling-starring love story.
Sparks reportedly agreed to write an untitled novel and simultaneously work on a screenplay adaptation for the film, to be executive produced by Cyrus’ mother, Tish.
He says, “Certain opportunities garner your interest, and this was one of those. I met Miley and her family, they are terrific people, and they were very familiar with the work I’ve done in the past. That played a role in this project coming together.”
The new novel is scheduled to hit shelves next Autumn.
