You Bring the Voice. We Bring the Insight.

The 2027 Save the Cat! Screenplay Challenge is now accepting feature screenplays and original TV pilots. Every eligible entry includes a full read and structural feedback to help you with your next draft.

For Teddy Cecil, our 2025 Feature Grand Prize winner for Sandy Gray, the experience led to representation and a producer attached to his screenplay: Juliet Berman of Spiral Stairs Entertainment, one of our industry judges.

“As a direct result of my win, I got representation and I got a producer attached to the script.”

Hear Teddy share his experience:

50-Point Structural Analysis for Every Entry

Believe in your story. Be open to insight.

Every eligible entry receives a full read by experienced Save the Cat! Master Cat readers and a 50-Point Structural Analysis at no additional cost. Zero AI is used in judging or analysis.

Grounded in the Save the Cat! method and approach, our feedback focuses on the beats and spine of your screenplay: your protagonist, goal, stakes, conflict, and character transformation from Opening Image to Final Image.

The analysis gives us a shared language for discussing your story, identifying what’s working, and helping you decide where to focus your next rewrite.

Serious Writers. Shared Ambition.

Past winners and finalists include first-time writers, emerging screenwriters, working writers and directors, as well as established television creators. Whatever stage you’re at in crafting stories, take the challenge to enter so we can read your story.

Top 5 finalists receive meetings with judges and a 12-month Save the Cat! software subscription. Grand Prize winners also receive a live table read at the Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute, flight and hotel support for Los Angeles, and a Producers Badge to Austin Film Festival.
