A Tip from Our Screenwriting Workshops: Do You Need a Double Bump?
Blake Snyder
1 min read

Sometimes a student is developing a promising story but can’t find enough of a catalyst to put it into motion. In that case she may need a second catalyst – a Double Bump – to launch the story. For example, in Star Wars, it’s not enough for Luke to be summoned by a princess; he’ll need one more push that comes when he finds his aunt and uncle dead. If you feel like your story’s still drifting, a second bump may be what you need. (From Chapter 2 of Blake Snyder’s third book, Save the Cat! Strikes Back)
