Setting up the software

I'm writing my first novel and have purchased the STC software and trying to set it up but getting a little lost.

So far I know in my mind what the outline of my story is and have written scores of ideas in Evernote of character descriptions, story ideas, possible scenes and so on. I started copying and pasting some of those into the STC software but quickly got lost and came to a halt. I'm sure there's a more efficient way of doing this but so far haven't been able to work out what that might be.

Would love suggestions on what others have done
