Can anyone name films/books where the hero ends up joining the institution, and this is a happy ending? I've been working on a book for a long time that fits this model...

Hey, KWM! I think it's usually more common for the hero to reject the institution, especially if it goes against what they believe. But in a sense, I think there are times they might "join" it, but it needs to change... it doesn't exactly burn down, but something changes. I think about the movie Meet the Parents with Ben Stiller. Even though he doesn't feel a part of the family, he eventually confronts Al Pacino and his ways and the two come to a sort of consensus and understanding about what is okay and what isn't. If I think of any others, I'll add them, but that's all I can think of at the moment! It sounds like you have a great idea!
