Thanks for the info.
Thanks for stopping by, Victor!
I think you nailed it. This is a spectacular story. I couldn’t help but like it because of the stalwart friendship and that she is an amazingly beautiful girl, as most all of them are, with their beautiful dark complexion and that dazzling smile. My favorite part was when her father chose to go against tradition and support his little girl’s wishes, as any proud papa would.
The story is simple, but powerful because it’s so relatable! And yes, that father-daughter story moved me too. Thanks for listening, Benjamin!
Naomi,
Do you offer a service assisting in determining the most appropriate genre for a concept?
Hi Joe! Yes – it sounds like a General Consult would work for you. You’d get time with a Master Cat like myself to discuss your project, and could focus specifically on talking about genre and where your story might fit. More info here: http://www.savethecat.com/services/scriptcoverage
Hope that helps!
If anything – and I guess that’s one of the goals – your podcast made me go back to the STC genres and got me spending more time in BS’s world. So congrats.
Hey Stephane! Thanks for listening and hope the re-visit of the genres was helpful. I do think exploring the features and elements of your story’s shape can help you develop it, even if you already know what genre it lives in. :) Happy writing!
Your podcast made me realize that I need to study the 10 STC genres and their applications in more depth. I still feel that Institutionalized would make a good fit for Bend It Like Beckham, but I see your points.
Hey Anthony! Glad you got something out of the episode – thanks for listening! Understanding the STC genres really can be helpful since they give you another way to think about your story and how to shape it. Best of luck and let me know how it goes!
